Leadership Cayman 2022 Kicks Off Programme With Annual Retreat

17 Feb 2022

Leadership Cayman (LC) selected 25 new participants for its 2022 programme. Class members met for the first time at an Orientation Dinner held at the Wharf Restaurant on Thursday, 20 January 2022. LC Planning Committee members were also in attendance to show their support for the new class.

A week later, the 2022 class began their personal and team development at an Opening Retreat on 28-29 January 2022, held at the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa. The retreat gives class members an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and work together as a team before the series of bi-weekly seminars begins.

The Opening Retreat was a momentous occasion as Dr. Peter Hammerschmidt, an expert in leadership, problem-solving and teamwork, with three decades of experience, returned to Grand Cayman to facilitate the event in person after hosting to 2021 retreat virtually.

“The Leadership Cayman Opening Retreat of 2022 was triple the fun and learning. Not only did I have the pleasure of working with the class of 2022, but I was able to finally meet the Class of 2021 in person. Meeting them in person added a whole new dimension (pun intended) to the class compared to our Zoom interaction during the COVID shutdown,” expressed Dr. Peter.

The Chairperson for the 2022 class, Cristina Spratt, was delighted that Dr. Hammerschmidt was able to return to facilitate the retreat in person.

"We were fortunate to have Dr. Hammerschmidt in person again this year. We were able to go through those activities that make us better leaders, focus on the important facts and learn to be part of high efficiency groups.  This group brings a lot of great energy and I'm looking forward to their participation in the upcoming seminars"

“LC Class of 2022 is the most innovative yet, I'm thrilled to see how they come together as a group."

After the retreat, Dr. Peter caught up with a group of 20 alumni for a quick activity and lunch. “The third part of the fun was working with and learning from the LC Alumni in our Saturday afternoon session where we applied many different problem-solving techniques to current Cayman Islands challenges/issues.”

“As always, the very best part of LC is the opportunity to work with an extraordinarily talented and diverse group of problem solvers in their service to the Cayman Islands,” concluded Dr. Hammerschmidt.
