Leadership Cayman Class Visits CIMA for 'Financial Services' Seminar

22 Feb 2018

The financial services industry was the focus of Leadership Cayman’s second seminar yesterday, February 21, and the 2018 class spent the afternoon visiting the offices of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA).

The class spent an hour with CIMA representatives, learning more about how local currency is produced and the impact the financial services industry has on the Cayman Islands community and economy.

Once the tour concluded, the class travelled to the Deloitte offices for the evening seminar. The guest panel for the evening included Mr. Jude Scott (CEO, Cayman Finance), Mrs. Cindy Scotland (Managing Director, CIMA) and Mr. Michael Halsey (Managing Director, Sackville Bank & Trust Company Ltd).

The class members were tasked with developing their understanding of the financial industry and to determine ways in which the Cayman Islands can maintain their attractiveness and competitiveness on the global stage.

The class and the panel of experts engaged an insightful and thoughtful debate, using the forum to expand their awareness of the importance of the financial services industry and how it affects all residents of the Cayman Islands.

Class member Simon Garnett served as the mentor for the seminar, whilst Chrystal Edwards and Jeremy Moore acted as moderators.

The Chamber would like to thank Deloitte for serving as the evening’s seminar partner, as well as Cox Lumber Ltd. and RBC Royal Bank (Cayman) Ltd. for supporting Leadership Cayman as major programme partners.

The class will next meet on Wednesday, March 7 for the ‘Education & Workforce Development seminar.’
